Southern Lights is pleased to announce the return of “Moonlight in the Garden” at the JC Raulston Arboretum this fall. The Arboretum will be open the first 2 weekends in November for evening tours showing the gardens in a whole new light! The event will be held evenings of November 4,5,6 and November 11 and 12. This will be a ticketed event with all proceeds going to help the Arboretum. We are still working out some details of cost and hours of operation…Stay tuned.
We look forward to illuminating the Lath House and Japanese Garden, walkways from entrance to great lawn, woodland paths from Japanese garden to the roof garden of the McSwain Center. There will be over 400 fixtures installed
Featured at the new Arboretum entrance will be a display of Kelly Francis’ Fireflies. Kelly is a lighting designer from San Antonio, Tx and we are proud to have him debut his creations here in Raleigh. The live oaks at the front entrance will be graced with his copper hanging fixtures so that visitors walk through the display to get to the gardens.
Bob Simchock will have a display of his hand-made stone lanterns and path lights available for purchase. Bob is a stone mason turned artist whose creations grace many finer agardens in the area. We are lucky to have his touch in the tour.
The McSwain Center roof garden will feature an electric flower garden and long views of several features in the Arboretum. The succulant garden will be lit with colored LEDs to add a festive touch to the garden tour.
The great lawn will feature and dining area with a variety of venders offering food and drink. Tables will be set up under “Bistro Lighting” for you dining pleasure. Entertaiment is planned as well.
Many thanks to our sponsors who have been most generous in helping us put this together:
We couldn’t pull this off without their help.
So please join us in November! Its a great way to support the Arboretum and have a fun evening for the whole family. See you there!
